The flavours of pine forests and the Calanques: all Marseille and all fun

  • Patio-style covered terrace and pastis bar

  • Brunch every Sunday

  • A short walk from metro lines 1 and 2

  • Live music and DJ sets

After a long day of working or sightseeing in Marseille, take a break in a vibrant and colourful hotspot less than 2km from the Vieux Port, in the 5th arrondissement. A huge bar with a big selection of pastis, a restaurant with casual-cool décor, a patio-style covered terrace... they all invite you to hang out and have a good time.

Choose a comfortable half-circle booth, have a seat and sip a signature cocktail like the Wake Me Up. Or try one of our 50 types of pastis, in moderation, of course. For those with a competitive streak, challenge your colleagues to a game of XXL table football in the bar. Around large wooden tables, discover local cuisine based on fresh catches from the Mediterranean, such as bream, tuna or calamari.

No matter where you are in the restaurant, the covered terrace, with its potted cacti, terracotta tones and sky-blue ceiling, seems to always be in view. It's like a promise of a sunny, adventure-filled road trip to come.

Regularly scheduled live music and DJ sets add to the cool vibe. And on Sundays, it's brunch time! Whether you come with family or friends, a lavish buffet awaits. There's no need to choose between savouries, sweets, charcuterie, breakfast cereals, pastries or fruit juices... Mama has taken care of everything.

(Translated by Google) Frankly, they put everything into communication and nothing on the plates! Frankly lousy, extremely long and we see the cooks laughing behind psk the chicken is burnt, the sauces were a teaspoon for €0.60! We take tenders, we have wings instead, the braised chicken is burnt…

We had 2 burgers, 1 small thing of tenders 1 small of braised chicken = 53€

And of course the sweet potato fries at €3.90 = a handful that fits in the palm of a hand, you could see the bottom of the box

(Translated by Google) Le Mama is renowned for being pleasant with a beautiful convivial space on the ground floor, great breakfasts and simple, but clean and practical rooms (with desk) with good bedding. The Mama Shelter in Marseille deviates from the rule: a pleasant stay.
Be careful if you don't like parties and noise, your nights risk being rowdy (restaurant room = evening room).

Points of annoyance all the same: the sales service is not very dynamic, a reservation for a group which failed due to lack of follow-up and nonchalance of the service contacts + credit card imprint for the stay debited; It’s quite annoying especially when you have paid for your room when booking.

In short, slightly exaggerated quality/price ratio (room without breakfast... +22€ (!) and half-pleasant, half-unpleasant staff, it depends on who you meet!

    Mid-tone Mama Shelter in Marseille

Ya know... I really wanted to like this place. (Especially because they're basically two blocks away and I'm going to have to walk past it all the time.) The atmosphere is great. The staff... while friendly enough in what they say... it wasn't really matching their eyes. The first time I went there I didn't even eat because the guy was attacking like a mall security guard. Eyeing me following me around... Maybe he was having a bad day. So I tried again yesterday. I just wanted to know what they had to eat. So I asked a waiter. He insisted I sit down and he'd bring me a menu.

    He didn't.

Eventually some other waiter brought me some round thing with a QR code thing to scan. I just wanted to know if they even had anything I wanted to eat before committing to this whole thing.

I don't know what was up that night... But the entire staff, the floor manager, the waiters, everyone was running around looking worried as if something was going terribly, terribly wrong.

Things got worse when the food arrived. I ordered the Dorade... a fish thing. You get it all over town. What I got was... Well look at the photo. Some steamed kinda fish salad, kinda hard broccoli and bok choi thing with no flavor at all.

Again... Waiter was very nice. But the card machine wasn't working and there was a wild panic in his eyes. From what I overheard someone had checked out of the hotel without paying, maybe? What that could possibly have to do with him or me is beyond me. But everyone was like that last night.

    It was weird.

So the fish disappointed. And they do have actual menus. I saw them on the way out. I wish they'd let me look at one for ten seconds instead of putting me through this QR code thing.

If you walk for literally two minutes to the Rue Lodi there's a whole GALAXY of bars and restaurants.

    Do that instead.

I gave it an additional star because the interior design is simply amazing.
