Enter the Hangar and you immediately spot the retro-industrial aesthetic and the huge Lumière brothers portrait. A tribute to the two inventors' former workshop is just opposite. This bistro restaurant is all about modern cuisine, with a reworked menu every three weeks that focuses on home cooking and fresh seasonal produce. Enjoy in the dining room, or on the terrace when the fine weather arrives!

Winter and summer, the menu is fresh, hearty and seasonal. The Hangar is no factory: Coraline, the head chef, creates her bistro menu from fresh ingredients, mostly from local sources. The quality of meat, fruit, vegetables and cheeses contributes in large part to the foodie reputation of Lyon, dubbed France's culinary capital. Besides being a well-known restaurant in Monplaisir Part-Dieu, the Hangar is also a lively bar with DJ sets, after-work parties and other events. Workers and locals pop in through the day for a drink or coffee in a chilled atmosphere. You can also find great regional shared platters at the bar, from sliced sausage and Saint-Marcellin cheese to craft Lyon beers like Tête d'Or and Confluence.

A tribute to cinematography

A cinema now classified as a historical monument, Le Hangar du Premier-Film was the Lumière brothers' workshop, featured in "Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory". It was the first film made with Auguste Lumière's Cinématographe to be shown to a public audience. Le Hangar celebrates this tradition of innovation through its industrial décor and its use of touch screen menus.

Coraline Forest

Coraline has been head chef at the Hangar since 2022. Recruited to the restaurant team as station chef in 2016, her obvious flair soon led to new creative departures. She loves to work with fresh seasonal ingredients, and reworks the menu every 3 weeks, to the delight of regular restaurant customers. Being a natural foodie, Coraline likes to create sweet and savory dishes, but is also environmentally aware, and has spearheaded a genuine eco-friendly approach in her kitchen, including composting.

    Amener à une table pour pouvoir travailler en même temps que mon repas la commande a était très vite prise et je n ai pas eu le temps de travailler beaucoup car dans cet établissements ils ont vraiment l aire tous très efficace de l accueil au placement à la prise de ma commande en passant par la cuisine . Et en plus ouaa c est bon j ai tres bien mangé et le conseil du café gourmand très bien aussi .
    Au moment de payer rien à redire on me prospose même de revenir le soir pour déguster des huîtres et de venir vivre un moment de détente ( je n ai pas pu venir mais si j ai bien compris cela arrive régulièrement je reviendrais avec le plus grand des plaisir )
